Hanzi Yanbian Tujie Erge (Illustrated Nursery-rhyme of the Development of Chinese Characters) is one of outstanding books published by New Century Publishing House. Graphically and vividly, this series of books is popular for readers especially young readers and is good for marketing, with highly potential sale on the internet. It turns out that the topics selecting and planning of this set of books are successful.

Hanzi Yanbian Tujie Erge (Illustrated Nursery-rhyme for the Development of Chinese Characters) is well positioned with reasonable rhythm and style. One character of a children’s song, not only tells both words’ creation and Chinese character evaluation but also enliven itself with songs, the content is well expressed by nursery rhymes, knowledge is perfectly accepted with art accompanied. Dividing the topics into the units of “people and life”, “natural space-time”, “plant”, “animal”, the characters and nursery rhymes are subtly connected together like a string of shiny pearls.
Good creative thoughts need good works to express, or no matter how great the creative thought is, it cannot be successfully displayed. Creative ideas are a framework having to be supported by perfect details. Chinese characters are treasures for our national culture, playing as culture carriers, passing through Chinese long history. The frequently used Chinese characters reach a number of three or four thousands, which leaves a huge space for poets to explain all characters with nursery rhymes. Besides, using clear and understandable nursery rhymes to explain those profound characters in order to make children for writing learn easily is really a huge and difficult work. Thanks to Haisheng’s creative idea and working that achieved satisfactory effects.
It always surprises me when reading this new series of books. The characters are angels, vitalize and beautiful, actively dancing in my keyboard, circling around poet's fingertips. Chinese characters are happy, children’s songs are cheerful, and they enjoy singing and dancing in the spring.
The children’s songs and poems written by Haisheng are structured characteristic. He pays attention to the selection of themes and the ways describing the points. In this series of books, his splendid idea in conception is further developed. For example, when describing the character of “sen” (forest), different from traditional thinking he chose the song of which Pencils are Geminating. It sings pencil tips drawing pictures/ thought about geminating/pencil tips are growing up/ becoming poplar and getting back to its forest mummy. In Haisheng’s works, pencil tips are full of life, which can not only draw pictures but also miss their mom of forest. The using of “thought” skillfully turns the scene into forest, it is amazing. This turns out that good works are those helping people feel the vast ocean only through a grain of simple sand. Vivid language and describing are another characteristic of Haisheng’s work. Vivid verses run through his nursery rhymes. For example, he said birds are playing games around trees when explaining the character of “niao” (bird), and a fish is swimming up and down in the river to explain “yu” (fish), saplings are stretching themselves with dewdrops dropping for the character of “miao” (sapling). If we said the characters in books are quiet symbols, Haisheng’s nursery rhymes are lively kids playing with them. I believe that in this way, young readers will love Chinese characters more, lean better, and enjoy the beautiful nursery rhymes at the same time. Chinese characters can evaluate, nursery rhymes can be described by pictures. Thanks to HaiSheng and his new work Hanzi Yanbian Tujie Erge (Illustrated Nursery-rhyme for the Development of Chinese Characters) that answered the questions in my mind.
Gar Shangduo, a Manchu prople, who is a famous author of Children’s Literature, a member of Chinese Writers Association, reached the second level of Literary Creation. His Morning in Country, a nursery rhyme, has been selected in Chinese (Book 2 for Grade 3), the standard experimental textbook of Compulsory education, to be used by the students in spring term of grade three. His six children’s songs and poems such as Counting Angles, and Picking a Lock are all used by the Chinese book of The kindergarten training school.
